Cary Banks

Cary C Banks is a well known West Texas songwriter, musician, author and educator.

Over a 50 plus year career he has performed and recorded with such well known artists as Bo Diddley, Linda Ronstadt, Joe Ely, Terry Allen, Dixie Chicks, Richie McDonald, Terry McBride, Jana Stanfield , Pat Green and many others. His original songs have been recorded by many artists including Jerry Jordan, Maines Brothers Band, Hannah Jackson, Floyd Brown and have won Regional and National Song Contests.

As a member of the Maines Brothers Band he was inducted into the West Texas Walk of Fame, 1993. Cary was awarded a Silver Telly video award as featured artist and co-host of the Story Tellers and Music Makers series broadcast on PBS Television.

He has been a writer/publisher member of ASCAP since 1976.

His book ,”Almost Like a Professional” won a Kopps Feathering International Book award.

Cary served as Professor of Music and Chairman of the Creative Arts Department at South Plains College from 1993-2015.

He currently resides in Lubbock, Texas with wife Carol and continues to write, record and perform.
